Does anybody make multiport injection for a 383-400? - 11/24/14 04:50 AM

Does any company make a multiport injection complete system for a 383-400 motor? If no company makes one, what would be a good choice of aluminum intake manifolds to modify a 383-400 manifold to put a multiport injection system together?

I think Edelbrock makes a single plane EFI intake for B and RB.

In general, you pick the manifold based on application as if you were running a carb. My 400 based stroker uses a M1 single plane manifold with FI bungs tig'ed in place. I thought the good sized single plane was best for my build and started with that. Dual plane manifolds are candidates also... however they tend to have more variation in air delivery per cylinder vs single plane as I understand.

Most conversion shops work with single planes.

Just from a packaging standpoint, the runners on a single plane are much easier to machine and mount the injectors so one can use a fuel rail that connects all the injectors on a bank.

Indy's website and catalog show that they have a couple of B EFI intakes. I don't know if either of these actually exist and can be ordered.

400-30 - This might have Max Wedge ports? $750 includes fuel rails.

400-I4-MMBOEFI - Mod-Man intake... still needs a top plate for the intake. $750 + $135 top plate.

As far as I am aware, there are no other new EFI intakes for the B engine. Edelbrock only makes an EFI intake for the RB.

The going rate to convert an existing intake that you provide seems to be $500-$600... so those Indy prices aren't completely out to lunch by the time you factor in an additional $100-$200 if you have to buy an intake to convert.

I am planning to convert a used Torker intake myself.

I talked to this guy a few years back about a possible build before all of the plug and play systems came out. He was friendly and quite helpful. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think he did the system for the Green Brick many years ago.

INDY Modman or add the injectors to an Edelbrock Victor manifold which I have done many times.

If you're handy you can buy universal fuel injector bungs and fuel rail material. You can then drill your single plane intake to accept the bungs then go to a machine shop and have the aluminum welded for you. Would be way cheaper than paying someone who advertises intake conversions.

.....and much easier to booger things up. You're also paying for the expertise.

Back a few years there was a member who used copper tubing fittings for the injectors to slip into, and sealed it all up with JB Weld. As I recall, it worked fine, but looked kinda bad.

I went with this intake for a low deck stroker...EFI would be sweet on it...

Anyone have a pic of a procharger set up on a crossram??
