What is involved to change the rear main seal on a 3.5 L intrepid engine

Would I be correct in assuming that it's a seal that taps into the housing similar to the front seal on a big block Mopar

The seal is pressed into a retainer that is bolted to the block.

New seals should come in a new retainer with a sleeve to help with installation.

Had 1 early 3.5 with excess crank end play cause a leak there otherwise not too common.

Very commen for the camshaft thrust plates on the back of the heads to leak, sometimes ALOT!

Can I see this from the top of the engine ?

Thinking about buying the car cheap.

May need a light and a mirror to get a good look.

I think one side is abit hidden by some coolant tubes.

Thanks for the replies I passed on the car looks like it had a harmonic balancer put on shortly before oil seal took a dump motor Sounded a little funny
