1bbl carburetor - 10/24/14 03:32 AM

Got myself a '65 A100 pickup recently with a slant six. Have been reading a bit lately about a 2-1bbl manifold from Offenhauser. My truck has a Carter carburetor, and I know Holly had a carb for these motors. Given the choice, which is the better one to find parts for and work on? Thanks.

As an old chrysler tech. 1965 to 1978.I remember that the Carter carb came on the 170 cid slant, and the Holley came on the 225 cid slant..both worked fine..The Carter was easier to work on but the Holley wasn't hard...I see them both at swap meets all the time..and kits are avalible

As said they are both pretty simple. You would be able to swap jets on the holley & iirc all carter primary jets are the same (other than orifice dia) so you could swap jets. You might inquire over at www.slantsix.org as those guys have dealt with them almost exclusively for decades. Doug Dutra and Chuck Rivers would be 2 good guys to pick their brains on that question. EDIT I just remembered that AVS pri jets are tall jets for the 3 step rods and AFB used shorter ones & these might be the ones to use or Eddy jets which'd sure be easier to come by

Thanks guys. I'm seriously considering the dual 1bbl set up just for the cool factor. I don't need more power, I just want the cool look!

Use the Offy 2x1 intake, 2 Holley 1920s and 2 unsilenced air cleaners from a pre-67 slant and it will look like it's a factory option. Offy has a linkage kit to connect the carbs together along with the throttle and kick down. The bonus is doubled carb air flow, which will be around 350cfm, 1920s are 160-180 cfm.
The 67-up air cleaners use a larger 10" filter and the carb spacing is less than 10" so they interfere with each other.
