68 Coronet 4 door Windshield?

68 Coronet 4 door Windshield? - 09/29/14 07:57 PM

A friend is in bad need of a Windshield. I told him that Moparts experts would be his best source.
Does anyone still carry windshields for 4 door models? I believe there is a 4" height difference.

Thanks
Ron

IIRC it is the same as '66-'67 b-body 2dr sedan & '68-'70 SW, someone should have it.

No that windshield is not available any where. Before you send money make sure they put their grubby hands on it, have them measure and double check the stock #, then believe it, with your fingers crossed. and if for some miracle he does have it be thankful it is only that much $$$

I bought a complete running driving car for a undamaged unfogged one.

My windshield guy searched the nation 6 months back. They are made from unobtainium.

I have a spare JIC, but you need to find one from a donor 4 door. good luck

I had no problems getting one for my 67 Belvedere wagon. They are the same as the 66/67 2 & 4 dr sedans. Got it from Vintage Glass. it cost $425 which included shipping. They had both clear and tinted.
Checked it against the original that I removed and it was a perfect match.

Cudatom, How long ago was it that you got your glass?

Like I said, I deal with a certified PPG glass installer and he couldn't find it and when he told me I called every other glass shop there could possibly be.

I obviously missed "vintage glass" if you got it recently. I bookmarked it for future reference

I ordered it Jan of this yr. I had to go back and check my Chase CC for this. My old lap tops hard drive fried and I lost all my favorites and contact info. I will try and locate an invoice and see if I have a number if you want.

One other thing I forgot to add. I was able to pull up my old emails for this order. Cost was $295 and shipping came to $135. Yeah shipping was high but it came to my front door and was packed very well. If I would have had a business I could have it sent to the delivery would have been less(BS but thats what they said)The windshield was not listed on their site. I sent them a email request to see if they could locate this for me. I provided the info on the vehicle and they even requested that I provide vin confirmation to ensure it was the correct glass. I too was skeptical and believe I asked them 3-4 times to confirm it was for a wagon and not a convertible or 2 dr coupe.

I work for a company that packages and sells RV Windshields.. We are charged an extra fee for liftgate OR "Residential" delivery by the FRT companies we use, so probably NOT BS...

I let a friend have his Pinball game delivered to our Warehouse ( we have 4 docks) Saved him $200 dollars on shipping...

Have you tried Safelite? I know they have a listing for a RR and a Challenger. Maybe the 4 door not popular enough for them to handle.

I can and do understand the lift gate fee for residential delivery of large items, but the windshield counldn't have weighted more than 25 lbs box and all. I think I have just gotten used to free delivery. I know when I got my compressor and snow blower delivered there was no fee and we are talking about items that were very heavy. I should have explained it better.
I did some more checking and the windshield that Vintage Glass got for me was bought thru Sunlite Glass LLC. They only sell to glass shops and if the net info is correct they are in Columbus Oh.
