Air hammer and chisel bit in the direction to loosen lug... Put thick rags around the wheel and use caution.

Any reputable tire shop can knock it out quick. Or you can buy what they use, I think they're called gator grip. They run across this all the time

Looks like the locks they used to sell at the local parts stores back in the day... I may even have a set sitting in the garage yet. I usually do the air chisel route myself.

Thanks guys..
I was looking to see if there were any basic garage tools I could use..

1. Don't have an air chisel
2. don't want to beat it with a chisel and hammer and risk really messing up the wheel finish

3. I'm going to try

All you need:

The pins will likely slide in far enough to get to the cuts in the nuts.

Re: Taking off lug nut locks - 09/13/14 07:24 PM

We've had good luck hammering a slightly smaller 12 point socket on
(sometimes metric) with an extension and then using an impact gun on low. It trashes the socket but they're not that expensive and you can save it for the next time

Hammer and a chisel. Never had a problem, always come off. You've spent more time typing than it would to get them off.

Those look like the "Tuner" splined lug nuts that Discount Tires sells. The socket is $5. Drive by one and see.

I posted something about this a while back. The twelve point socket thing worked for me on my truck. See if you can find my old post.

They suck for regular work but come in handy on the oddball stuff.
I've only used mine a couple times.
