727 Tranny Questions

I acquired a 73 motor-home 440/727 to replace the 318/904 in the 71 Charger I am rebuilding. The original 904 has two 'ear holes' on the bottom of the tailshaft case, for the bracket that holds the bottom of the shift linkage torque rod(Slapstick). The motor-home 727 does not have these.
My questions:
1) Should/can I find a different tailshaft housing from a 727 that has these?
2) Are motor-home and car 727's the same otherwise and will any big block one fit?
Or
3) Should I ditch the motor-home trany for some other reason(school me), and just get a whole new one?

AS long as the motorhome 727 is a long tail shaft, I believe you can just get another tail housing with the tab you need for your shifter bracket. But many motorhomes had the short tailshaft which is clearly shorter than the normal long tail. Then you might want to find another big block 727 core.

I would add to this that the true Motorhome trans has a special HD input shaft, 4 clutch high drum and 4 pinion planetaries. Most of these have the park brake on the tail which would keep you from using this as a "bolt in"

A friend of mine put one in his Coronet but you have to change everything on the output side and use a car 727 core for everything for the back of the trans.(output shaft-tail shaft) As stated above the internals are better than a standard car trans.

Some motorhomes have the full-length tailhousing, in such cases it's fairly simple to just swap on a passenger car tailhousing.

Here is a picture of it. I measured the whole length at roughly 35" and the tail section housing at roughly 18.5" not counting the rubber seal on the end.

The numbers stamped on the case below the shifter brackets and above the pan are 732534 4374 2122.
That first number doesn't make sense though. It seems one number short, from what I've found on the web, and it should have a PK in front of it, but doesn't. The second number is the date code which I believe is July 18th 1973 (on the 10,000 day calendar). And the last is just a sequence #.

3732534 is a 727 from a '73 truck with a 440, it has the long HD extension housing...surprised to see one with that late of a '73 build date be a in a '73. The '74 P/N is way different (3736148)

Maybe truck production started/ended later in the calendar year.
