Looking for resto shop recommendations.

Looking for resto shop recommendations. - 08/11/14 03:37 PM

I need to get some recommendations for good restoration shops near me. I live in Eastern Massachussetts, so something in New England or even New York would be best. I've found a couple on-line, but would like to know if anyone may have any good experiences with one in this area.
The project is my 1970 Barracuda convertible. I need to have a previous resto to it gone over. The car would be dropped of as a shell. So, paint strip, some add-on stiffening items, a couple small dent repairs, three very small rust spots, and the finishing work with new paint. I plan to do the re-assembly myself, unless their rates are reasonable for some of the assembly. Basically, a partial resto involving just the body.
Thanks,
Paul

Just bumping this back up in the hopes that someone new may see this and have any suggestions.

Russel Jacobs/ RJ Cars in Arkport NY turns out some nice work, while not Mopar specific, he has done quite a few, he's been in the biz for about 25 years

Auto Rust Technicians (ART) near Providence RI is very good on the rust repair and frame/chassis stiffening. They don't do full strip and finish paint, however. I had an E worked on there with good results. I did the strip/paint myself (mostly) afterwards. As a comment, "a little rust" on a previous resto can mean a lot of different things. Until you have the paint and any filler removed, hard to know how much rust there really is. ART will find it and fix it as needed however much there is... though rust repair is not cheap.

Thanks ahy!

I'll look into them, too.
I'm not looking for a concours resto...More of a resto-mod regarding the "bracing". And, I want a clean, straight body with nicely laid down paint.
I intend to drive the ragtop a lot, including some trans-continental road trips. I mean to enjoy it.
This outfit may fit in nicely with this and my other two projects.
