simple AC compressor ?

There is a fill plug on the side of an RV2 AC compressor. Does the oil in that part of the pump mix with the refrigerant when charged? I know when a system is evacuated and charged oil and refrigerant are added back... just didn't know if there was an isolated oil section for the "bottom end" of the v twin like RV2 compressor or if everything co mingles.... just trying to get a better grasp on the RV2.

If everything co mingles was wondering how the compressors rotating assembly retains lubrication during an evacuation/charge period?

There is an oil sump at the bottom of the RV compressor; the oil does circulate throughout the system with the refrigerant but eventually returns to the sump.

The only time oil needs to be added is if a component is replaced or there is a known oil leak, the FSM often gives the amount of oil estimated to be in any one component and shows how to fabricate dipstick to check the oil level in the compressor.

Thanks. So you would only check the oil level via the fill plug if the system is open? Assume since the oil makes it's way down even the sump portion is pressurized in a functioning (sealed and charged).
