Does the 5.9 magnum have the provision for the pilot bushing and input shaft from a manual transmission? The motor I have chance to get had an automatic originally. Looking to bolt a smallblock bell and an 833 behind this motor.

Go to the store and buy a pilot bearing for a 97 5.9 Magnum Ram. It fits in the torque converter ring on the crankshaft. They haven't used the little oilite bushings for years.

My biggest concern is determining if the register in the crank that is deep enough to accept the transmission input shaft. I know the vintage LA motors are hit and miss --- many but not all automatic cars don't have the register cut deep enough to accept the input shaft. The choice in that case is to bore the hole deeper or cut a portion of your input shaft off. I have never been in that situation and hope to avoid it in the future. So, the punchline, does a 5.9 magnum crank have a crank hole deep enough to fit a manual trans input shaft?

I should be able to answer this question later in the week if I pick up this motor. Just an FYI, keeping the slant in my Challenger. This is a cheap way of getting a running motor back in another car.

I put a 97 5.9 into my 72 satellite with a 4sp od 833 with the register/ crank bearing and DID NOT have to trim input shaft.

Just measure first is my recommendation

Thanks very much. Gives me the push to drive the 100 miles to pick up that motor. Much appreciated.

I didn't have any problem with an 86 318 and my 1964 NP420 manual transmission. There was a plenty deep hole in the crank casting.
