Power window switch centering wires

Power window switch centering wires - 06/05/14 03:26 AM

Had to disassemble two switches to build one. Can someone tell me where the two centering wires go? I took the second apart very carefully but the wires were just sitting in the housing. This is on a 70 Challenger. Thanks!

Not electrical- these are the wires that center the switch button. Looks like two straight pins with the heads cut off. Thanks-

Figured it out. To anyone with sloppy power window switches, this may help. The electrical portion of the switch (the "contact box")is held in by four "ears" that are bent over the box. Two of these ears had broken off of my switch, resulting in a loose action. I found another power switch, but it had a different style button. First I took both switches apart by carefully bending the ears straight up. Then, I drilled the swedged area on the back of both buttons to release them from thier rockers. I took the button I needed, put it on the outside of the good housing with all four ears present, and used JB Weld to attach the rocker to the back of it. After it dried, I put the two centering wires into the inside of the switch housing, the "contact box". They go into the bottom of the contact box, one on each side. If they are bent you need to straighten them up. Then holding the contact box with the open side facing up, I slid the housing with the switch button attached over the top of it until the two arms on the button rocker went into the two holes on the sides of the contact box. Holding the whole thing together, I put the switch upside down on an opened vise with a rag over the jaws, and carefully tapped the ears over the edges of the contact box with a screwdriver and a small hammer. The switch is now nice and tight, and works like a new one.

Good job fixing the switch. I was browsing E-Bay yesterday, and I bought 10 single power window switches. Now if I could just find some of the drivers quad switches..
