2006 Jeep Liberty Sport???? - 05/23/14 08:52 PM

Wondering what you guys can tell me about these little baby Jeeps?
A family friend may be selling one and I know it was well maintained but has a "dirty CarFax" due to getting hit while sitting in front of her house.
No frame damage but a mark on the Car Fax is like a kiss of death when you trade in.

I know it's not a great car but to knock around it would be better than my 97 Bonneville!
06 Liberty Sport, I believe 3,7 engine.
Thanks Ron

rebuilt cuts about a 3rd off the value.

For my own cars it means nothing . AS LONG as I know WHY it has a rebuilt title.
If the seller can't tell me WHY its a rebuilt title or it's a flood car I RUN.

That said , keep the oil changed ( preferabbly synthetic) in it and depending on miles on it I would change the timing chain, gears and water pump and drive on

We have had ours since new, its a 2004.
other then normal maintenance , I had to replace a cam sensor. We manage 18 mpg on a good day and it a pig on the interstate in overdrive.... just not geared right for the torque curve in overdrive, 3.7 liter auto 4X4... Nice vehicle around town and in snow

My wife has one and it has been great. Her gas mileage (combo city/hwy) averages around 19 in the winter and 21 the rest of the year. We did have the automatic transmission programming reflashed once under warranty because it was 'stuttering' when it shifted in 2nd. We also had to replace the A/C clutch. The 3.7L engine isn't especially torquey but it pulls a small trailer ok and goes ok on the highway. It drives well in the snow in hi 4, and even in two wheel drive with the traction control switched on it works pretty good in the snow. Overall it is a good vehicle, I like it and my wife loves it!

Just don't hit anything in the front, my wife hit about a 60 pound fawn with hers and it did over 8000.00 in damage and pizzed just about every fluid it had on the ground. I deemed it unsafe for my wife and we bought something different, in fact she hit a 8 point buck with the new one at the same speed and it only did 4000.00 in damage never leaked anything and was fully driveable. Just my

Bill I didn't say anything about a "rebuilt" title, just that it had a Carfax report.
I know the car since new and it was hit in back bumper when parked.

The car is adult woman owned and has 17,000 miles on it. All oil changes done at 3000 intervals. Has gotten new brakes due to the way see drives and has had new tires already because of age.

I'm pretty sure it has never gone over 70 miles per hour.
This one has all the flairs/bumpers painted same as the body. I know it's a Sport but the painted flairs made it something higher up the food chain too.

I'd get it.The 3.7 is the same as the 4.7 minus 2 cylinders, ours has almost 80K on it and I've done nothing but normal maintenence.

My wife has an 06 Limited, 3.7, auto, 4x4. She loves the car. Ours has 110k. Our car had some problems: about 6 or 7 window regulator changes, AC compressor, 2 water pumps (within 18 months, both for leaking), fuel pump. All except for the window regulators, happened in last 2 years. Car runs and drives just fine. The 3.7 is a good engine but bad gas mileage. I like driving it around town, easy a maneuver and no problem in smaller parking spaces. (beats my lifted Wrangler). I drive the car to Colorado in the winter to go skiing--does just fine on the highway and its always gotten me through the snow on the way to the ski resorts.

Why would you change the timing chain?
