Need help with pilot bushing size

Engine is a 1969 340 with an A833 trans. Replacing things including the pilot bushing and the correct bushing for the motor appears to be P5007051.

I picked up one from my local parts store and it's larger than the one I pulled out of the car. No way it's going in.

Here are the dimensions of the used pilot bushing

OD 23.08mm
ID 19.08mm
Length 21.88mm

measurements of the new bushing

OD 23.97mm
ID 19.08mm
Length 22.08

ID is the same, both bushings seem to fit correctly over the input shaft, length is roughly the same.. OD appears to be the issue.

Can anyone verify part number and dimensions?

I can't imaging forcing the new one in due to the size difference.

Photo included of the new bushing not fitting into the caliper with the old bushing OD set...

NAPA use to sell, probally still does, a adapter pilot bushing for Mopars tha had the smaller I.D. than the standard OEM crankshafts with the stock pilot bushings, it may be yours is one of those I've seen guys hone or bore out the back of the crankshaft on a automatic crank to make it a stick shift crank Shame on Moapr for making two different cranks Good luck on resolving this I don't speak metric so I have no idea what sizes you have, if I did I could go out in my shop and measure both of the those pilot bushings and see if the NAPA bushing is close to or the same as yours is
I'll be back on here later if you want to post the sizes in inches and I'll look at mine and let you know if that may be a option for you

That is a common problem on big blocks but all my steel 340 cranks are drilled for the correct size pilot( the larger one). The easy fix is to use the later model one that comes in the new pickups. The fit in the back of the crank hub where the convertor hub goes. Don't get the ones with needle bearing but the one with the bushing.
Mopar created a big problem when they rough drilled the cranks for auto tranny and only finish drilled the ones for a std tranny.

I believe I had the same issue when I switched to a stick years ago in my f-body. I went with a late model roller bearing. It fits in the outside register for the flywheel. It's never been changed since. It was cheap & and the local NAPA carried it.

pushes the button to convert to inches..

Old bushing dimensions..

OD 0.908in
ID 0.751in
Length 0.861in

From looking at the new bushing I received from the parts store, I honesty think I'm looking at a different crankshaft. The car (1974 Challenger) does appear to have been converted to 4 speed from auto..

I did the same thing when the bushing I bought would not fit the original 4sp crank. Went to the roller and it worked great!

These are the register-mounted pilot bushings/bearings. The NAPA 615-1033 undersized bushing is .915" OD.

I just bought a new clutch set for a 93-5.2 NV4500 5 speed, the bronze bushing is the same as you have, on a 91-5.2 it is a little to big to just hammer in there. fits input shaft correct.

I orderd up a late model pilot bearing for the 93-d-250/NV4500

it fits in the bigger machined hole for the TC hub.

here it is for a part # referance and with it installed.

ran less than 18 bux at advance/auto

Just call a bearing supply place and tell them what you need. Its likely a stocked item and will cost you less than the Mopar part.

Thanks for all the tips. I think I'm just moving forward with the roller bearing... Looks like Brewers has one that will work.
