Can someone tell me where the thick red wire with the black stripe connects to it has a connector on it and looks to connect to a stud? My old harness was pretty hacked up and it appears that it was spliced to the alternator gauge wire. Is that where it goes?

IIRC on my vert the power wire for the top motor connects to the AMMETER Stud. Been about 15 years since I was under the dash though.
I think that is the one you are looking at. It powers the top motor.

That's what I was thinking. Can anyone else chime in? I assume it would go to the red connection?

The other end goes to the fuse block and runs through that relay at the top of the fuse block.
