Help with rear springs - 08/26/13 11:55 PM

I am getting ready to but a b-body 4:10 dana in my 64 polara 500. Will be a 440-4 or 5 speed drive train. What would be a good rear springs to use? Not looking for racing, as will be a street car. I would like it to ride about stock height but be good for acceleration. What do you think?
Does the dana use the standard shock pad?

I have 003 SS springs in an 65 dart A body with thick/stiff aftermarket tbars & it dont ride too harsh. Alot smoother than I expected (bought it as a roller). I believe the Dana pad width is the same as an 8&3/4 (3"?)

The OE spring for aggressive street driving with a BB was the XHD spring. Re-pops are available from Mancini, Firm Feel and others. In terms of spring rate, standard springs were about 120#/in and XHD was 140#/in. The XHD's have moderate arch as manufactured and seem to sag a bit with use so they tend to be low. I've got a set on an E and had an extra leaf added to bring the spring rate up to around 170#/in and get the height right. They are now a good match with 1" front TB's.

The other choice is to call ESPO (Springs and Things) and have them make you a set.

The same springs should mount on a D60 and 8.75.
