Does any body have any ideas on how to free up some stuck pistons?

Number one and two must have gotten water in them from the last owner.soaked them with pb blaster and cant get them to budge.

PB Blaster is a joke and it stinks.. Use Aero Kroil or Marvel Mystery Oil..

Ill get some mmo in the am. Anyone use kerosene in one to free it up.

Never knew marvel oil to be a penetrant.. but it might be.. blaster DOES work by the way.

Mix automatic trans fluid 50/50 with acetone. Soak it overnight. If it's just rust skip that mix and fill each cylinder with Evaporust, soak overnight.

JB80 (Justice Brothers) works better than PB in every application I've used them both in(note I didn't say PB doesn't work, just that JB80 works better). But, I've always used Marvel, poured on top and left to sit.

When I worked for GE one of the maintenance guys set up 5 fan blades on steel shafts on the roof of the building. After 6 months he sprayed each with a different penetrating oil and let stand overnight. He beat most of them with little luck. The Kroil treated blade flew over the side of the building with the first whack. That was the only penetrent in the stock room after that.

So ive had trans fluid and pb blaster in the cylinders for a while now.I just went out there and she rotated! woohoo

50/50 trans fluid/gas. pour it in the cyl. light it on fire. the idea is the heat will expand the cyl. allowing the trans fluid to seep down freeing the piston.

80's roller 318. I popped the heads off and founds lots of rust in number one and two. Gaskets rusted threw. Rest of cylinders perfect. She got moisture in the front two cyls somehow. Cleaned it all up. No pitting yet. All the surfaces are good. Gonna rebuild it.So a 318 and a 340 use the same main size right? I was thinking of putting a 340 crank and rods and making a blue collar 340.Or cant it be done that way. Trying to use parts I already have.

318 and 340 use the same main sizes but the balance is different because of the piston sizes, rod weight (318 are pressed pin 340's are often bushed floating pin) etc. Also you can not bore a 318 large enough to put 340 pistons in it.

You can have it balanced and make it work though. For the cost, it may be cheaper to buy a balanced rotating assembly since you are already gonna need pistons. It's worth looking at prices.

318 and 340 have the same stroke , 3.31 , the difference is the 340 is forged , the 318 is not ... yes there were some 318 forged crank truck motors ... i never saw one they also share the same rod length.
