part fell off my 67 gtx what is it?? - 07/31/13 01:48 AM

when I took the engine out of the car I found this on the floor near the clutch linkage, steering column and master cylinder area. all of which I messed with. Any ideas on where it goes? I thought it might be something off where the z bar goes into the frame but it doesnt really fit.

Maybe a shim for the starter.Just a guess....

My dad suggested the jack! The guy who restored it didn't know. Then we thought of the items the last owner changed Hurst shifter.... its some kind of spacer. Part number showed up on Jegs website. At least it isn't something like pull the tranny to fix

Winner gets to help install it! My hands are so cut up from putting the engine back in. I should have a hard time recomending headers. Spent a day trying to get a dipstick installed
Weird thing on the part. I keep seeing Muncie listed with it.

That's because it's not a mopar part , if the trans has the right adapter bracket for a mopar shifter there is no part like that needed.

I put it on. Has a competition plus shifter and aluminum adapter. At one time it had an inland but it disappeared

Yes it will bolt on but if the trans has the correct adapter it is not needed and may actually cause a shifter rod angle misalignment.

It is needed if you install a newer hurst shifter and if you want to ever shift into reverse. DAMHIK

It seemed to work OK before. I bought the car in January and drove it 300 miles and had it hauled to Ohio. Roads bad so I pulled the engine to fix the rear main seal. Took forever to get back from machine shop. I thought it looked ok with the adaptor out. Rods were straight.
