New MP electronic distributor setup

I'm installing a MP electronic kit I bought back in 2005 in my otherwise all stock 70 Charger RT 440. I also bought the spring/key kit that works with this unit too. Any suggestions on switching springs to something other than the stock settings on the distributor before I put it on the car?

I'd find the initial YOUR eng wants with the "vacuum gauge" method then with that number in hand use the keys to set the total (initial+keys) to 36. then springs then plug in/adj the vac adv.
