I'm at the point of installing the engine in my cuda. Can I do it alone? Engine is assembled and I have a hoist with a leveler. 4 speed. I'm thinking install clutch, pressure plate, bell housing and drop it in.Who has attempted this and what are the steps you all recommend. Thanks John
Can it be done? Yes. It is not worth it, slow down and get help. Even inexperienced help is helpful. Another set of eyes to let you know your about to scratch paint, bend a part, break a wire, or hand you a socket or a rag etc... Just my

Your right. I will round up a couple of friends. Its. I've done just the engine and just just tranny before but never had them both completely out. So I need to support the rear of the engine before the transmission gos in?

I'd suggest assembling the eng/bell/trans on the floor then hoisting it in as an assembly in 1 piece. Ahead of time when working the trans into the disc/bell if you have to stop midstream dont let it hang with all that trans weight on the input shaft/disc, have something there to support the trans. Bolt the 2 rear leveler chains to not the rear pair of manifold bolts but the next pair forward. I'd take off the leveler crank handle & weld a nut on the end so you can use your air ratchet on it but the issue is when the eng gets tilted at just the right angle the crank handle gets in the way. (3) heavy blankets on the fenders/firewall. EDIT I'd highly suggest removing the center steering link the pitman arm the idler arm and the steering box and the steering column. It's extra work but if you're anal like I am about things banging into things that shouldn't be hit you'll wish you did when you're done.

(Drop the K, set the engine and trans in place...
Lower body, a la OEM)...
No worries about damaging pretty paint...
Take CLEAN towels, bed sheets..whatever and used those on all the top of the fenders, grille support panel and cowling. If you can use some green or blue masking tape, tape the same protection to the firewall to avoid scratching the paint. Use good heavy jackstands and a good floor jack that is stable. As mentioned earlier, remove the center link from the steering linkage, it makes things easier. Take your time and get some help if you need it.
