re. 2001 Durango can't get shifter out of park

I moved off the rubber gasket at shifter and steering column.I sprayed some wd40 and it comes out of park like a new car. There is a pawl that locks up the shifter that was sticking. Thanks

There was a recall on "shift interlock". Don't know if that had anything to do with it, but can't hurt to investigate.
