1970 Barracuda Suspension

Greetings,
Trying to get my car to a rolling stage. Kids are older, car has been in an auto cocoon for a while. Time to get back on track. my car is a shell. Completely dismantled and on a shish kabob. I have all the original suspension parts but it doesn't make sense to use old torsion bars, leafs, sway bars ect. Then there's breaks and lines, power booster, making sure the wheel off set is right for the breaks you end up with....I want to make sure the stuff I buy all fits together. It's a bit overwhelming. Need some grounding. I'm looking for a good road style suspension. Nothing crazy, just nice and tight street car, built with quality parts. I see these all in 1 kits, so many products and choices now, tubular front ends ect ect.

I went with tube upper arms,boxed the lowers,polygraphite bushings and the larger tie rod ends. running 245 70 16's up front but the best mod I feel was I tied the frame. car feels great on the road,night and day from the stock setup and Im running the aar/440 bars that the car was born with.

How do you want to use it and whats your budget?

I've been in your shoes and still working on mine.I started with a 74 cuda 318 auto,but paint and body done.Replaced 318 with 68 440 hp,A833 4 speed. Installed the larger 1 " torson bars,tubular a arms,poly bushings except lower control arms,new pitman and Idler Arm, steering box stage 3. KYB shocks all around,new heavy duty leaf springs,rear frame connectors,larger sway bars front and rear,boxed my lower control arms.Using 10" rear drum brakes and larger 11 3/4 drilled and slotted for the front.And all has been done without spending a fortune.Take your time and there is plenty of info and parts out there all you gotta do is look for it. Theres also a couple of good part shows here in florida to get things.

A driver mostly. Maybe a bit of street racing. Still want it to be tight though. like I said, nothing crazy. I'm looking for quality mostly. I was prepared to spend the $4250.00 on the just Suspension "All In One" kit.

For an all inclusive kit, this actually is a decent one. Some on here will poo-poo the hard parts and insist on Moog, but for a cruiser you likely will not have any issues. I would skip the KYB shocks and step up to the Bilsteins. Otherwise, its hard to beat getting all yoru rebuild parts plus all your upgrade parts in one package.

You could also put together a similar package with Firm Feel. While they do not offer an all in one kit with everything, they do have most of the parts needed to do this type of rebuild.

Places like Hotchkis, XV, and other do not have all the basic rebuild parts for joints and ends that you will need. They tend to be performance upgrade sellers.

If you want to piece meal things together, you might be able to save a hundred or two on the whole shooting match by picking pieces up when you find sales.
