70 E body oil pan replacement - 02/19/13 05:55 PM

Can I replace the oil pan while its in the car? My oil pan is dented up and I'm going to replace it, just wondering any tips or tricks about replacing it in car if it can be done. Thanks

I've replaced my pan in my '71 Challenger and it's a deep race pan on a big block.
I had to drop the center link on the steering and I think I took out the motor mount bolts and raised the engine off the pads about 1 1/2". Just sat the mounts on some wooden blocks.
If your's is a small block, I wouldn't see any other obstacles.

No problems at all if it is a stock pan, drop the center link as already suggested You will probally need a 1/2 inch box end wrench to remove the front four bolts BTW, is it a BB or SB motor

Thanks, it's a 340. I figured I would ask before tackling it

SB are a little harder Doable, but not as easy as the BB wth the flat oil pan rails
