Cop steering box, 80 R-Body to 73 C-Body? - 11/11/12 08:25 AM

Hey all,

I have a firm feel box off an '80 R-Body cop car. Had it for awhile now. Will this box work with my '73 Fury. IIRC its the same except the pitman arm.

Will the 73 arm bolt up to this box?

Also, will the PS lines be metric? I have the early saginaw pump (oval neck) and thought about robbing the brackets and later pump off a mid 80s 5th ave if it were a metric box. Or will the metric lines and fitting on the back of the pump interchange from the later pumps?

I plan on adding washers to de-pressurize the pump in the process. Can this be done with the early saginaw pumps?

Any help appreciated.

Should. The mid 80's stuff should not be metric.

Should be the same. Re-Check the Mopar Action Richard Ehrenberg article though.

Total bolt-in.

You can reduce the line pressure on any Saginaw pump, Metric or not.

Yup, helps eliminate that over-boosted, zero-effort feel.
