I heard it got sold & was at that point taken out of circulation. Before it was, I used it (rented it then sent it in the mail to the next guy in line to the address I was provided).

Bigblockranger still here , changed his name to BBR

He sold it years ago, it was getting to be a hassle, IIRC.

Bigblockranger.com has, I believe, pictures of how it was made. It's not rocket science.

I could make a couple bucks elsewhere rather
Than making a jig ill use once ..
Too bad its still not in circulation ..

Ill fig something out , youre right its not rocket science
Id rather screw up the angle on my own .
Dont disagree with you not wanting to loan the
Tool . Never know how long itll sit on someones
Bench .

Didnt realize so many people borrowed BBR's
Sorry it became a hassle ... That was nice
Of him ...

I've done a few conversions but always used a mill, very easy and no jig taking up space when not needed.

The jig was a neat deal when the demand was high. When demand started to fall off it became more trouble than it was worth to me. A guy contacted me wanting to buy it so I sold it. It traveled all over the US and into Canada. Quite a few guys used it and I am glad to have helped them out.

I'm stoked to see someone else build one too!

Contact the guy above and have a little get together with your heads ?

its really hard to screw up the angle when you bolt everything up tight to an LA head before welding it together. the hardest part for me was getting the tap started.

If anyone made another, I'd be up for borrowing it for a couple weeks. Heck, I'd even pay to rent it, say $10 a week. Sound reasonable?

Ditto! If enough guys are willing to rent it, it'll pay for itself in materials and time pretty quickly...

Honestly . If you bushed the intake holes with longer
bushings/dowels , etc.. prior to Drilling .....
This would work good , wouldt it

Accessory bolt holes

so you'll need to weld something onto the intake manifold to interface with the intake bolt holes....

If I remember correctly, the 1st one (that got to travel) was alinged by some type of L-bracket, and clamped in place with large C-clamps.
Wouldn't be hard to install a couple of locating pins that lined up with existing holes in head, to make sure was in correct place before drilling. We have quite a few people that are interested in this it seems. I'm still interested in it!

Re: Jig drilling la intake magnum heads - 12/06/12 09:06 PM

Anyone make any progress on this? If not, I'm going to the junkyard this weekend to snag an old LA head/manifold. Anyone in the N. Chicago area have a spare intake/head they could loan me for the cause?

Re: Jig drilling la intake magnum heads - 12/06/12 11:15 PM

Does anyone know the precise angle that the holes are in relation to the intake face for LA bolt-holes?

Re: Jig drilling la intake magnum heads - 12/07/12 02:14 PM

I believe it's 7°.

Re: Jig drilling la intake magnum heads - 12/07/12 03:54 PM

7 degrees when I measured it and redrilled my magnums on a bridgeport mill
