70 Challenger Rallye hood - 10/27/12 02:27 PM
I have a Rallye hood on my 70 Challenger SE. How can I tell if it's 70 or later hood? Thanx.

Does it have the impact creases on the inner skin? What is the build date of your car? This info will help get to an answer.

The >'70 hoods will have a provision stamped into the hood where a bracket attached. This bracket is used to to secure the safety latch pull rod release.
The 1970 Challenger Rallye hood do not have this stamped into the hood.
The leading hood area where the trim attaches may be slightly different too. However, the stamping/bracing for the bracket attachment or lack of, is the easiest way to determine 1970 hood IM0.

My Challenger is a late 69 build SE so it originally had a flat hood. My hood has a provision to mount a bracket (and two threaded bolt holes) so I believe it's a 72 up hood. I think 71 Rallye hoods do not have the letters D O D G E.
I wish I knew how to attach a picture on here.

1970 model year hoods have a smaller bolt thread diameter than the newer hoods, I want to say 5/16"?
I do not have one here to check for sure, it has been a while, so hopefully someone here can check.
1970 model year hood trim also attaches through the front flange of the hood. For 1971 & later it attached from the bottom.
