Clutch recomendations

Looking to replace my clutch while tranny is out to get freshened up. What is a good street clutch? I don't do any raceing but do enjoy beating it up around town. Looking for a good clutch that will hook up well without killing my left leg in traffic. What do you guys sugest? Car is a 68 Super Bee with 440 and 3.55 gears

Everyone seems to have their opinion on clutches. I have used just about all of them. Some have only lasted a few months...... Here is my two cents. I called Jamie Passon and told him that I had a street car running M/T's with X-amount of estimated HP and I told him that I drive the car HARD. He sent me a Mcleod that shifted great and the pedal pressure was awesome. Six years later that clutch is doing great in that car. Since then I have bought several clutch set-ups from him (each different, depending on the application), and I have no complaints. I need to buy another clutch soon for another project and it will be a McLeod that Jamie recommends.

I got McLeod RST dual disc in my duster and love it. Smooth as glass and holds very well. Pedal pressure is very light. In fact, I had to remove the over-center spring on the pedal to get it have a little more. A dual disc is the way to go if you want good street manners and be able to race it too occasionally.

I like the GTX. I have one of those 440 automatic. Black with blue gut. My bee is QQ1 blue looks like your GTX is to. Love that color. I've heard good things about Mc Cloud clutches. My last 4 speed ran Hays didn't like it. Pedal went down a couple of inches closer to floor over the clutch that came out no matter how it was adjusted and was very stiff on the left leg. Grabbed well but didn't last.

What model cluth did you use? I see they offer a few different models.

I run a Center Force dual friction.More than enough for a street car and mine sees quite a bit of strip time.Light pressure and hooks great.My 440 pushes 550 hp.Its been in for over 10 years.I did change TO bearing to a timken.Only thing Ive done.I might try the McCleod dual disc next.But at close to a grand for a mostly street car thats a lot.Rocky

x2 for Centerforce. Very light pedal pressure and clamps well. The only thing I don't like is there's not much transition travel (it's disengaged/engaged in about 1-2 inches of travel) and it engages very high on the pedal travel. The good part is you only have to depress the pedal only about the first 2-3 inches or so to shift.
