68 Barracuda frontend question - 10/09/12 03:49 AM

I want to upgrade to disc brakes and big bolt pattern on my 68 Barracuda.

What do I need to get to do it?

I cant buy the high end kits.
I know I can rob a mid 70's Duster but dont know what parts I need to do it.

UCA and spindles at least, the rest you can buy new. Oh, get the the spindle ball joints bolts too, you'll need them. Going 11 or 12? Need the right caliper mount too. I swapped side to side to put the calipers in the back. LCA doesn't matter. Did this long time ago. I got mine off a 74 Duster, brake stuff from a Doby.

UCA's/prop valve/LCA to spindle mounting bolts & the spindle with everything on the spindle-rotors/bearings/seals/horseshoe adapters/adapter bolts/dust shield. I'd use new (rebuilt) calipers and hoses and ask for '76 calipers as they have a 2.75" bore as opposed to the 2.60" bores on 73-75 A bodies which'll give you more front bias always a good idea. You can interchange/mount the spindles so the calipers can be on front or rear side but mount them on the opposite side of the spindle that the hard line to hose line mounting tab is on so the hose goes thru/past the spindle. Can use the drum/drum M/C just keep it topped off & check that the half next to the firewall has no RPV in the brass cone. 78 volare hoses will give you more length if needed just cutoff HALF of the metal bracket in the middle of that hose. Get the genuine RIBBED banjo bolt washers from MP. I'd suggest high performance pads and a breakin (bed in)procedure. I prefers sliders rather than floating and the 11&3/4" rotors/adapters will give you more brake but as said I think require 15" wheels
