Thermoquad repair - throttle shaft loose

Thermoquad repair - throttle shaft loose - 08/15/12 06:33 PM

The throttle shaft on my TQ is loose to the point that it leaks gas out both sides of the carb. After some searching, I see that they can apparently be bushed.

- Is this something that can easily be done at home by myself?

- Are there any pros out there that I can send my carb to that can repair this and go through the whole carb for a reasonable price?

I've Google'd this repair in the past and found several places that will do it for you, or they will send you a kit to do it yourself.

For more hits on Google, it's a common repair on Rochester carbs as well.

It's helpful if you have a drill press to do the work though.

If you need your carb restored I'll be glad to help you, rebushing the throttle shaft bores is part of my typical restoration service. I am very familiar with Thermo-Quad carburetors so no worries. If you have any questions feel free to call 801-940-2689 Scott

All carbs AFAIK have this problem. I need to rebush a bunch! Two drill presses.

Just bought a BBD that the shaft pops in and out 1/4"???
