Engine start problem need some help

After working on my ride for the last year , I was ready to fire it up today and have run into starting problem. I am just can't figure it out ,it makes no sense to me on what it is doing,
Cranks over with the key and I have power to the yellow wire on ING side of the starter solenoid and just cranks and cranks , if I jump across the solenoid between the battery and the starter solenoid wire it starts right up, does the same if I remove the yellow ING wire and just jump the solenoid.

Ignition MSD6 box -New
MSD coil-New
Mopar Distributor Gap set to .08
Mopar constant voltage regulator

I just don't get it, I could see if it did not crank with the key and I had to jump the solenoid
Any ides?

Did you wire together the "start" and "run" circuits and attach them both to the small red wire on the MSD?

Sounds like you may only have the "run" circuit attached, so you box is not hot in "start".

This is Mopar thing and is not covered in the included instructions for the MSD.

You do not need to remove the resistor, but if you do remove it, connect the dark blue with the white tracer and brown wire together and connect this to the small red wire. These wires are at the resistor.


Dark Blue with the white tracer is power to the ignition in the run position.

Brown is power to the ignition in the cranking position.

I rewired the car myself with a new Fuse panel from EZ wire
On the MSD the small red wire is hot with key on from fuse panel.
If I pull the yellow ING. Wire off soleniod and jump the relay it will start.
I did not use any ballist resistors

The thing I can think of is too much current draw,either the starter is drawing too many amps or the relay is bad and needs replaced. The MSD needs a good 12 volts to run and some cars will have issues with worn starters or old relays with internal resistance.
Just a thought.

right, but do you have a hot wire in start?

that yellow is neutral saftey I think and has nothing to do with it.
if you have it plugged in or not, if you jump the relay it will turn over.

starting will depend on if you have power in start vs on/run to the msd box.
