I have a 71 RR. Do you have the A/C heater box? If so, check out Bouchillon performance

I'm leaning towards them for everything forward of the cowl on mine.

I had factory A/C and converted it to R134 through Classic Auto Air on my 72 Charger.

I did a complete vintage air setup in a 1970 Hemi Cuda clone 
Using Bouchillon pulleys and engine brackets, sadly they are the parts I'm the least impressed with

Not to hijack your thread, but I too was wondering (kind of) the same thing. I have a D100 truck with factory air. I realy don't want to go back to the stock set up. I'd like to install a better (light weight) AC pump, go with stock with the rest of the set up, and go to R134. Any thoughts?

I should be more specific to help. My '71 RR is a "non-A/C" car. I was looking to see if anyone has put in an aftermarket system? The Vintage Air stuff is only listed for the 68-70 B-body. Nothing for the 71+ crowd. However, I have not called them to see what can be done yet, either.
Since I have the car apart, I hav an open canvas to work with. Any other thoughts or suggestions are welcome. Thanks for the input so far!!!!

Hey Jeff... It's been a few years since I have been hangin' around Moparts. I must have gotten used to sipping wine while driving the new iron.

A local guy here just added one to a 71 RoadRunner.I saw it last weekend and it looked good.Under dash vents over the hump.He said it was a very easy install.I did not ask him whos set up it was though.I can find out if interested.

Yes, if you can find out which system he installed. Mine is a big block car. Pics would be cool too, if you have the availability to get. Thanks!

Looks like they have adapted the E-Body kit to the 71-74 B-body now. This is worth looking into. However, I will be looking for the "low mount" style brackets for the compressor. With the air grabber, I need to keep all the hosing and components down low. prolly need to have all the hoses custom made.

When I did the air in the Torana, I needed all custom hoses obviously...I ended up buying the crimping tool and all the hose and fittings I needed and made them all up myself.
Lets you run them exactly how you want and with crimping them yourself..you can sort of design and route them as you go.
(more than a year later and it still blows cold so the crimps worked perfectly in my case.
)

Gary, thats good to hear.
I used Vintage Air for the box. It's all electronic controls. That way there are no vacuum lines and/or control cables to worry about.
Firewall forward is all Bouchillon and it was mostly a bolt in deal.
The kit I used was made for an air car. BUT, I simply made my own bracket to mount the box to it instead of to the car.
That way I was able to use all the stock Non A/C car box mounting points , just in case the owner decides to someday put the car back to a stock AAR( Although I seriously doubt that'll happen)
