Connecting rod end play question.

I am in the process of building a 493 stroker for street strip use and have a question regarding connecting rod end play. I have an eagle crank, H beam rods and clevite bearings. I had the tolerences checked by the shop when everything was balanced. One set of rods seams tight. I can get a .006 feeler guage between the rods and between the outside of the rods and crank at the same time. I can separate the other rods and get a .014 feeler gauge between them. The assembly seems to rotate without any binding. But, I don't know what the end play should be.

I would have no worries with .014" con rod side clearance if that's what you're asking?

I was told by one builder that if I could separate the rods and get a gap of .010 to .014 I was good. I can get that with all but one set. That set i get .006 as stated above. Is that acceptable?

no .006 rod side clearance is too tight. Gotta belt sander? Use it.

Could be possible that you have the upper and lower rod bearing shells mixed up on one of the rods, that would make your rod bearing hit the radius of the crank instead of the correct way that would have the side of the connecting rod touch the crank.

I had one set of rods tighter than the rest, ended up being the bearing notch in the rod was slightly off and the bearing was pushing against the radius of the crank. I just chamfered the bearing slightly, and it was fine.

I didn't realize there was a top and bottom. I noticed there was an oil hole in one of the bearings, but didn't realize there was a top and bottom. That could be my problem.

The bearings will either be "narrow" or "chamfered" for crank radius clearance. For one reason or another, I'll bet the bearing is hitting the radius. You should be able to move the rod front to back and when the rod hits the cheek of the crank, there needs to be a distinctive metal to metal slap sound. If the bearing is hitting the radius, it will sound dull, completely different.
