I must have a burnt valve on the pass side in my Fury. It misses and "chuffs" out right side tailpipe. I am going to throw on some rebuilt 516s I have laying here. Are the P4286754 http://www.summitracing.com/parts/DCC-4286754/
gaskets as good as they've always been?

I'd use the standard Steel shim gaskets. the Fel-Pros are like .039 fat and might drop your compression a tad.

I would add it would be a good idea to paint both sides of the shim aluminum. Adds to a good seal big time.

I am in the process of fixing a botched motor build...builder F*^%$d me over...and after that will use the steel shims myself. By "painting" both sides what are you using? Upon tear down I noticed that my shims looked like someone had "buttered" them with some type of blue type dye/paint. Not real thick mind you. Just not bare metal looking. What do you recommend for the paint as I like the idea of a good seal. By the way...383 with re-worked 516 heads........

That blue stuff is that insta-gasket/seal stuff. I don't like it.. soley becouse I can never get a even coat. That imo equals leaks. I just use any generic aluminum spray bomb and put a even coat on both sides. It just adds a very thin outer layer and helps the gaskets from moving around after the heads are bolted on, and gives a great positive seal. Never had a problem that way in 20 years. Had those shims holding back some crazy compression too.

Mopar uses a stuff to coat the multi layer headgaskets on the 2.0 and 2.4 motors. Can get it at the dealer. Have done many headgaskets at the dealership and in my own business with great results, can't see why it wouldn't work for your situation. Comes in a spray can.
