Cam swap 72 Satellite engine in car q - 04/01/12 10:02 AM
Hi
I want to swap the cam on my 72 Satellite, with the 440 still in the engine bay. Is it possible or will there be clearance problems with the radiator support?
thanks, Michail

The rad support shouldn't be in the way at all, but the rad, grill, front bumper and hood latch might.

Rad must come out. There maybe just enough room to squeak it by the front valance support and the grill maybe just far enough away. Take your time.

Once the first 4 journals are out, then you can do some careful tilting to help clearing the annoying sheet metal at front.

i did the cam in my 69 satellite so i think you can also getting past the support and had enough room before the grill.the cam is like 24" long so measure in front of the engine from the timing cover.

No, I mean you can tilt the cam slightly-carefully because the rearmost journal is much smaller than rest of the journals.

Radiator support wont be a problem. Just pull the radiator and youre there. Ive done it on a 71 RR 2 times with no concerns
