Starter help needed - 03/28/12 10:53 PM

I have 72 model 440 xh motor . When I built it I was told mini starter from Dakota v8 would work. Well it did for awhile! Dont have it off yet but belive gear is shot! What mini starter should use that will last? have headers so I think only a mini will work!

This is the 1st I've heard of a mini starter failing. They are much more reliable than the old style starter. Just goto a local parts store and get a new one using your old one as a core.

I got mine from Autozone with a lifetime warranty. No matter where I am, if it fails (this if the first i've heard of it actually happening) then I just pull it off and go to the nearest Autozone for a free one, FOR LIFE!!! I like that security and get it on all of my parts that I can. I have it on my waterpump, alternator, brake pads, distributor, etc...just to name a few. And so far I haven't had any quality issues from Autozone. Everything has held up fine.

Oh, and the reason that I choose Autozone over Napa, Advance, etc...is because they track your warranty nationwide in their computer system thru your Ph#. The other stores you have to save your receipt for years in the event the it fails.
