Connect 2 speed wiper motor to 3 speed switch? - 03/28/12 08:10 PM

Hey all,

I bought a cheap $30 2 speed wiper motor the other day for my 68 Charger. The car has a 3 speed wiper switch. Anyone know off the top of their head how I'd wire this up?

It might be a hack job but I really don't want to spend $200+ on a correct motor. I just want wipers that work in the rare case that I get caught out in the rain. I'm not worried about originality, just functionality.

No can do. The way the motor turns off is different.

The dash harness is the same 2 speed vs 3 speed so it shouldn't be too hard to make it work , worse case you change out the switch . Oh also the lever that goes from the wiper motor to the linkage is different 2 speed to 3 speed.

Rats. I just unboxed the 2 speed unit and you are right (of course).

I thought I could cobble up a harness and have working wipers for $30. Looks like I'll be wiperless until I can come up with the big $$$. (Or maybe I'll start poking at the old unit and see if I can do a simple repair on it).

I assume the car has a rallye dash ? All you need is a 2 speed switch and the harness which should be easy to get and it's plug and play.

The switch and the arm should also be fairly easy to find, maybe even be able to use the 2 speed swicth and leave off the extra jumper wire ... I think there is an extra wire that is an ADD ON to the harness , it's been a while ...
