Radiator Cap for Truck - 10/22/08 07:54 PM

My current radiator cap is not high enough pressure. It is leaking to much air. Does anyone know a good PSI/Ft lbs to use?

The factory shipped it with a 16 lb. cap.

It is too worn out and corroded to tell. Would anyone suggest perhaps going a little higher then 16?

I wouldn't go any higher. Just replace the one you have with a new one. It's worn out that's why it won't hold pressure.

They maker higher pressure caps, but they are for specialized applications.
16 is plenty for an 87 318. If a new 16lb keeps blowing off, then you have other problems
