CH 28 air cleaner options - 03/10/12 01:54 PM

Have a friend with a 440 CH 28 intake and carter carbs.
What options are there for air cleaners.
Changed out the original Mopar intake and oval cleaners but the fit with the new intake is tight on the oval cleaners.

Thanks

there's the two assemblys edelbrock offers. i don't think the cast aluminum will fit under the hood. there are units from the rod&custom guys, and two 6 3/8" air cleaners will probably fit. nothing for the mopar oval but there was a company called classic haulage that made a round unit similar to a street hemi.

I like the Edelbrock air cleaner. That is what I used on this 505 engine. I think I upgraded to an K&N air filter.

I also make a throttle linkage kit for the CH-28. Part number is AR287. Mancini Racing or Hughes Engines will have the throttle linkage.

My stuff is all used and sorta hillbilly but it may give ya some ideas...:) Picture 1-4...
Number one is using the Moroso air pan and two 6+" air filters
Number two is just two 6+" air filters
Number three is a stock look with base modified
Number four original mock up with Eddy Elite

Hope this helps...Russ:)

Hit up PaintItBlack, member here...I got this from Steve and had to hack it up because the original DualQuad measurements didnt fit the CH28. I am no body man but the cutting of the fiberglass, resetting, and painting took me about 36 hours. Fits perfect with 1/2" aluminum necks to raise it a little off each carb so the linkages work properly. Also bought the K&N filter for it. Going to paint it Black (base) and Orange (lid) with "DUAL QUAD 440" in block letters on it

Sits perfect in the engine bay. Clears the 3spd wiper motor, clears my MSD dizzy. I havent finished painting it though but thats one alternative

The only other alternative I liked (prior to the Six-Pack clone) setup was this one...Its the K&N Route 66 series. I believe retail the two air cleaners are about $550. I got them used on eBay for 200...still have them but wont make any use of them until I get a raised bulge hood for the car
