Radiator with in and out on bottom??

Ever seen a set up like that? My friend just built an old Dodge P/U for a customer. The customer came in with a new aluminum radiator which had both in and out along the bottom tank. The engine is an early 392, blown hemi.

The thing is overheating and when you pull the cap it doesn't appear that water is cycling through the radiator.

We're not sure who built the radiator.

Should this work or is it doomed to fail??

Won't work because the water isn't flowing through the cooling area of the radiator.

Is it a cross-flow rad that is mounted on it's side?

Sure doesn't appear that way. I will ask him if that's a possibility just in case!! Never know!!

All you need is a divider in the center of the bottom tank. Flows up through one half of the core, crosses over in the top tank and then flows down in the other half of the core. I'm not saying that's what's happening but it could work that way.

Good point but it makes me wonder how much of a restriction that path would create...And what would happen if, for whatever reason the water gets below a certain level...
