I use a "magnum" mount on my 340 GTS (not for a Magnum engine, that was the sales name)on the driver side, stock rubber biscuit on the passenger side.

I use a solid mount on my 360 driver side, and stock rubber biscuit on the passenger side. This car is a vert, so it has all kinds of chassis flex. I have read in the race section that solid mounts on a car with a cage or very rigid chassis will break the ears on the block... I have too much flex and not enough HP to worry about that...

Not to high jack the thread but it seems that the Mighty Mount design might be the best of both worlds. Giving the dampening effect through the rubber and yet providing a fail-safe metal to metal travel limit.
Does anyone have these installed on a HP set up???
Any issues or problems discovered???

hard to install ?

more than just a bolt on item ?

I fitted one on my 68 superbee.
Much like the one in the photo above, had to drill 2 holes in the k member
Sits nicely and is almost hidden by the power steering pump

While we are talking about motor mounts, when i swapped my 383 for a crate 500 i believed the motor would use a stock mount, however the drivers side side requred much grinding to fit.
is this because the 500 is a 'hybrid' type block ans is not a true 440 casting??
If so doeas anybody do a correct motor mount for this engine

A chain doesn't work real well because it still allows the engine to move back. I sheared the oil pressure relief plug out of my oil pump in the middle of a run because the motor moved back and hit the bottom half of the motor mount. It also will still allow the right side mount to break...honest, it can happen! I take a stock set of motor mounts and weld an 1/8" thick plate that is cut to fit in between between the top and bottom halves of the stock motor mount. Paint them black. It doesn't show and is a true set of solid motor mounts. I had them in a 11 flat 4 speed car that I used to come off the line at over 6000 rpm's. I used the same ones when I put it back on the street and I never had trouble with vibrations in the frame or any of that stuff. Make sure your trans mount is good. The cost of doing it yourself is cheap too!

here's a Schumaker torque strap on a 67 A-body barracuda 360.

Does anyone know if the Schumacher strap works on the early A-bodies?

On my magnum motor, I went to home depot and fabed up a strap out of a turnbuckle and some bolts. I have driven with it for 5 years now with no problems. My reaction times droped a litle too, do not know if it was because of the strap or not.
