I was waiting to see the weekend's best, but so far launching at 2000 RPM and no tuning:
60' 1.62 1/8. 7.32 @ 83.5 1/4. 11.52 @ 114
Going from 13's to mid 11's is a nice improvement. And I bet it drives nice (mild) on the street. Sounds like what you were trying to do.
IMO, with only a couple changes for all out race, it could run 10's.

That was through closed exhaust all the way through A-Body tips.
We are pleased. What do you guys think?
Way down on MPH for what you have. That thing should be clipping close to 98 in the 1/8th and 120 in the 1/4
Sounds like it ran pretty good. I don't get the babying it though, this ain't the 1960's when machining and rings were crude.
Keep at it, there's a bunch more in it.

The 60 ft is pretty decent if you are stalling up to 2,000. I think you could pick that up if you allow the converter to work, after all it is a tight 10". Try leaving off idle. I mean make sure there is air between your foot and the pedal before matting it when the tree lights.
I have to agree about the MPH. A good converter would be locked up at the stripe. So that shouldn't be it. A carb too rich will not MPH and will definately leave lazy.
Hey, first time out with no problems. That's a plus. Faster than the cars has ever been another plus.
Want to go faster. Try my launch method. If the engine stumbles tune it. Install at least one new plug say in #1. Shut the engine off after safely passing through the lights and in your case slowing down to a safe speed. (After practice and learning your combo you can do it right after the finish line if you have manual steering and brakes) Carry a wrench switch out the plug or just look at it on top end if you wish. You should be able to identify if it is rich. It it looks rich swap a smaller jet in the carb front and back. You can try as much as 4 numbers. If the plug looks reasonable try just going down 1 size in jet. Your MPH will tell you if you are going the right way. MPH is HP don't care what anyones dyno says. Use MPH to tune the carb. You can even try timing again MPH will tell you the best to run in your car.
Good luck I see 10's in your future.
If I can help just ask.

Wow thats great ! It runs right about where I do in my 63. Your 60's weren't bad for the combo. My best is 11.49 @ 116 with a best ever 60 ft of 1.57 but it was a 1.60 on the 11.49 pass. And my 1/8 mph is usually 93 mph so you have good #'s for that combo. I love 11 second street/strip cars you can drive around in. I hope mine becomes a 10 second driver soon. But you did great and the car ran great. Very nice job. Ron

Looks good to me.Where did you end up shifting it at?
What rpm were you turning at the stripe?
Did it hook?
We ended up shifting at 6200-6300. Hit right around 5900-6000 at the stripe. Traction is an issue. It hooked hard on about 1/2 the runs. Hit the rev limiter a time or two also. Thursday night our Holley fuel pump started leaking due to a crack in it. The only option was to go with a stock fuel pump for the weekend, and I'm sure it didn't do us any favors as it acted like it was running out of fuel towards the end of the quickest run. I agree that it has more in it, but we are very happy with how it performed the first time out. 11.50s on a pump gas small block through full exhaust and street friendly was the goal, and we hit it.
Thanks to everyone on here who answered our countless questions.
