With all the bashing going on in the small block head post, I got to thinking... Why are most Mopar guys stuck in the past? I know some people like tradition and such, but WAKE UP! there's more to life then "purple shafts, super stock springs, W-2, and J-converters, etc." While i'm not gonna deny that this stuff works, but most of it has gone the way of the dinosaur, there is much better technology out there today, and why Mopar people will not embrace some of it is beyond me I understand that one of the stumbling block is cost, but in the long run paying a little more for modern and quality parts make our cars more reliable in the long run. So come on guys don't be afraid, Think outside the box a little!

I think to innovate with new stuff you need to have money and/or time. I'm trying loads of new/unproven concepts on my build and it's expensive & time consuming as there is not always a reference point to start from. in part you have to look a lot wider than Moparts to get answers on some of these (EFI/EMS/ multiplexing electrics etc.). Moparts is still the best site by far though.

While I agree there is better technology out there in some areas, especially in metalurgy and actual production processes, don't believe everything you read in the mags or on this web sight for that matter. A lot of this "new technology" is just a rehash of stuff that was done 50 years ago. Some word smith has just relabeled it "multi-tasking" and put it in a multi-colored box. I'm all for someone taking the initiative to design a new widzisz, but, as my old man used to say, "talks cheap, takes money to buy whiskey". I applaud him, but I will stay in the "holding pattern" for now.

I dont care when the part was made personally, if it works how I want it to then im fine with it. If you like all the new fancy expensive parts then all the power to ya.
Ill take my MP cam and be happy
As for buying the newer stuff and it making the car reliable, I have to disagree. Ive seen the "Dinosaur purple shafts and SS springs" last a real long time, and work good.

My favorite exampleof what modern technology can do just look at the FAST class cars, some of the top drag cars back in the day could run no where near as fast with cheater slicks, altered wheel base's, purple cams, slapper bars... now we can add a bunch of new tech into an old engine desighn and whammy! 9 second cars that look like they just rolled off the show room floor.

I got no problems with the new tech stuff, I just got money problems. I'm forced to run what I have because I've collected all this stuff for decades. When I first built the W5 340 there wasn't anyone I could talk to about it so I spent a lot of money on cams, converters, carbs and intakes. I can't go through that again right now so I'm keeping what I have. However if those new heads do happen and I can afford to build another engine later I'll be looking at them. I don't see a gen3 hemi in my future ever but who knows. I may win the lottery someday.
