My machinist uses a self bottoming thread chaser not a tap.A regular tap wont bottom in the block.Make sure the thread hole is clean.I spray brake clean and use compressed air to blow the hole out.No sealer needed just lube.Use ARP spec to torque with lube.Rocky

I wouldn't use that head gasket, it's twice as thick as stock so it's going to lower your compression, unless that is why you are using them.

As said no sealer , BB head bolt holes are DRY.

He sent me a PM , switching from closed chamber heads to open chamber, he's going to need all the help he can get if it has stockish flatops.

The 4bbl is rated at 10.0 butit'se more like 9.2 at best, so depends on what engine he is starting with .

"thread chasing" tap which is a diff type than a regular thread cutting type of tap, not just the flat bottom/clean hole when done/clean the bolts and I wet the threads w 30 eng oil then blow em off w shop air . If ARP (or similar) I'd use their lube/torque
