Hi,
posting for a friend who's not a member. he called me today and his motor was oiling a couple of cylinders and thought maybe a valve seal problem , he checked it out and the bad cyl he checked had the top of the valve guide broke off. It's a .550 lift cam, I said retainer to guide clearance, he said that was checked, and the springs were changed to match the cam, then I said over reved , he said no way ,also this is a street car only.
anyone else had any problems with the guides on the stealth heads?
thanks in advance

I would think that if any thing the guides would be too tight, which can possible cause a valve to stick, bending pushrods, breaking things.. I had a Ford engine do this once with a set of new/fresh heads... It didnt do it right at start up, about the time it took for the thermostat to start to open.
I cant see how a guide can get broke in any other fashion besides interference/contact of some sort.
Before I run the engine again, and chance a major engine failure, I would tell him to have the heads looked over by a machine shop
