All slants have the same bore size only the stroke varies.
The 170 has the shortest stroke and if you have to built a high rpm screamer use one of these. The 198 is a stroked 170 (with the block raised to accommodate the stroking). The 225 is a stroked 198.
They say there are no such thing as a stupid question. They say there is always the exception that proves the rule. Don't be the exception.

Power/Slant/budget. You can get 2 of the 3, but never all 3 together.
Loophole: So can I get power on a budget?

I'd say it depends on what your primary motivation is. If it is to go reasonably fast for cheap, then personally I would leave the slant right there and move on. A used SB would IMHO be a quicker-to-implement, easier, cheaper, and faster-when-finished undertaking. If you want to travel a different route from the crowd (well you are already doing that in a Mopar, but let's say a different route from the Mopar crowd ), then knock yourself out. A good turbo slant would be fun to see and I'm sure very rewarding to do. But it sounds like to former to me?

yes. find a good running 318 or 360 magnum. ~$300-500 get a 4bbl intake for it (used magnum M1, or PP crosswind or eddie magnum air gap). pull the cam, have it reground by bullet cams using their HR259/316 lobe ($150). get hughes #1110 valve springs ($100) and their cam snout extender ($20?), and either their retainers ($60) or junkyard retainers off of a couple 2.2L/2.5L chrysler 4 cylinders.
if you pull the heads, get a good 5 angle valve job, opening the seats up to 1.9/1.605", do a little bowl blending/valve guide profiling, and open up the pushrod pinch some.
run summit brand small block headers and a 600-650 cfm carb.
should be an honest 300-340 HP, 330-380 TQ for under a grand.

I do have a non-running 318. However, if I were to get it built up and swap it with the slant wouldn't I need to change the K-frame and the transmission? It is a stock 318 out of a 70 or 71 Cuda (not sure which one) with a Holley 2-bbl and exhaust manifolds.
But then again, it is just a little 318, nothing too special.

No need to change k frames. Check this out... http://www.engine-swaps.com/
