I dont know if this is going to help you, but if memory serves correct, I think these pistons are made with a little more height in them so that people who do not deck the block arent so far in the hole. Best advice...bore, then mock up a piston on each bank and measure depth. You will likely have a different depth on each side like I did. Then take the block to be decked and you should be close to zero, this being your goal... Long story short, I am pretty sure the 408 piston will be in the hole LESS than the original 360 piston with the deck untouched. It's kind of a pain to bore then have to deck afer measuring, but it will ensure you get it right. Or just bring eveything to your machinist and have him seal with it. Hope this helps. Maybe a builder with a lot more esperience than I has more specifics to offer... P.S. I used a closed chamber head, 4 inch stroke and 6.123 length rod. I think CH was 1.465...a 9.588 deck height. Guess my block deck was 9.571 since I ended up .017 out. lol

There is a quench pad that is about.085 out of the hole. They now offer a version without that quech pad for use with closed chamber heads.

That's what I have. This, which is now listed as IC-745 I think.

Whats your deck height and what rod
Sorry for not answwering sooner went to get breakfast then fell back asleep.
Deck height is stock 9.6 just milled to clean up.
Rods are stock 6.123
Crank 4.000
Bore 4.030
I don't have any measurments as the engine was a crate engine.
The engine is together already I am swapings heads soon and a cam change.
So i am trying to get an estimate on my compression.

You really need to measure it. No telling what the original height was (it varies) or how much was really taken off to clean it up.
What heads are you installing? If you are running closed chambered, the combination won't work unless the quench dome was removed, or you have a really tall deck. Might have to run a thick gasket.
Again, you really need to measure once you get the heads off.

Measure on top of the quench area and rock the piston. Take an average.
Or, if you know the depth of the dish, you can measure in the dish area and factor it in.

I used the forged version of those on my stroker. I had either .030 or .040 milled off the step (can't remember which). With that and my decking, it resulted in the step being .005 out of the hole, and the piston face (the 7/16" ridge along the outside) was .005 in the hole. "How to Build Big Inch Mopar Small Blocks" has a section in there about this type of pistons.

I used those pistons (years ago when there were very few options) I switched to the edelbrock head, and had the quench dome cut down. I wanted zero deck but it was a bit further down. The final compression was about 9.6 if I remember correctly. FYI as mentioned above. I needed to square the deck. Many of the 360 block are off a lot.
