okay i got a thermoquad on a 71 340 motor when i bought my demon it looks pretty good and suppose to work good anyway would this be a upgrade. Over my 750 eddy i have on top of my 440 the eddys stock in outta the box and my motor has some issues i think its due to my 484 cam lacking fuel im gonna also try a holley 750 dp my buddy runs on a camaro putting out 507 hp.

Nothing you plop on there is going to run perfect out of the box without tuning. I ran a thermoquad on my 440 for years and for me it was a great car. What model # thermoquad do you have?

If you can find one that the bowls aren't cracked or warped on they are fine.

Thats a 72 carb might work ok, but for your setup with that cam you cant beat a 750 dp

Yes they will crack from over tighting. But a correctly
setup TQ will run great.

Just look at the mopar stock eliminator cars that have to
run them, if set up correctly they fly.

If they work they're great. what's the rest of the combo? If that 484 cam isn't backed up by good compression, 3000+ stall and 3.91's I don't care what carb you put on it, it will be a DOG.

Don't forget the timing curve too. VERY important.

I would try your buddies 750dp, I'm sure you will like it, thats the carb i'd run on that combo, just make "damn" sure you have the timing curve set up right for that cam. Like mentioned earlier, at least a 3000 stall & 3.91s. If it were mine, I'd use a 36-3800 9.5" & 4.10s, 750dp.

Timing. 16-18* int., 34-36* total, all in by 22-2400 RPM.

You can't go wrong w/ a 750DP. The 3.23's are what's going to cause you head-ache with that cam. You are going to drop the hammer at 4500 and it's going to want to fall flat. The DP will be more tunable than the TQ. As mentioned make sure you have your timing set..I'd try all in full 38* at 2400.

A 6139s Thermo-Quad is an excellent model and will work great on your car. This is one I recently restored for a fellow member.

The q Jet works great when done right.Get better gas mileage and still has the TQ sec power. But on the track the Holley DP can't be beat.
