Here in Florida, I've seen sand rails driven on the streets.

there is a guy down here with a bantum sedan body dropped over a 103" slingshot..he drives on the street....with an injected range rover/buick aluminum v8.. the thing is bitchin... its got 8 individual fuelly pippes and its a stick shift..when he lugs the motor pulling in or out of parking lots and such.. you can hear each individual combustion pulse comming out each pipe...as he clutches lugs it then it recovers.. that is such a cool sound fwiw.. cheapst

mopar ron now THAT is what im talkin about...a two seater as well. Here in IA we dont have annual inspections. I'm hoping to not have to do the windshield to keep it looking like the real deal. I'm very torn on engine selection. I may go to 110 or so for a laydown twin electric fan rad...blowing to the ground. Any more pics or done thats ......
If I hafta come in and getchya.......I'm gonna getchya!

wow that is some cool stuff there. I want mine to look as close to a real digger as possible....im thinking everyhthing from a mildly hopped up slant to stock small or bigblock cannot decide at all on that part...

To me, a slingshot is visually 'bare' with only an absolute minimum of stuff needed to run. An engine, wheels and enough space for a person, wrapped in some small tubing and a little bodywork. Note the car in the far lane. The hard part is to add the other stuff needed to have it run for longer than a 1/4 mile and meet regs without distracting from that visual impact. Cooling, lights and exhaust being the most obvious, but also charging and starting, suspension and steering, and a bit more room and comfort. I've dreamed of this type of car and thought a comp. coupe would be a bit more realistic if only for a bit more room to hide stuff. You loose a bit of the "in your face" rawness and bare bones look, but it would allow a radiator in the back and even space for a bit of rear suspension. You could install a jackshaft low on the motor to run back and power an alt and WP tucked into the body. The cooling lines could be positioned to look like puke hoses, and lights in back are easy, with removable ones in front.

Used to be a street driven rail in Dallas back in the 70's. Saw it on Forest Lane a couple times.
I've seen that one a few times too. Used to cruise Forest back in the late70's\80's. That car was featured in a how to fiberglass back then.
