I am just installing my Ladder bar system by chassis works and was wondering what drive shaft I should go to I am a 416 cub small block 650 hp 4 spd 833 Liberty pro shifted face plated with the mopar Aluminum diff Moser axles in a A body, I would like to step up from the stock diff yoke and drive shaft.

I went 5.96 at 119 on NOS in a 1/8 mile at 3200 lbs DUSTER with stock drive shaft with ladder bars and i am building a 572 motor and i will use stock drive shaft with 456 gears but i got a dana 60 and if you are running a 83/4 rear end like in the picture the stock dive shaft is as strong as it. GOOD LUCK

It seems to be up in the air which is better, steel or aluminum.I had an aluminum one built at a local driveshaft shop with 1350 solid u-joints for one of my cars. But steel or aluminum with 1350 joints should do you well.
You can always get it shortened for your Dana if you have to switch later.

I have a Dynotech as well....

4"x.083" CM with 1350 joints. I had a manual in it and it handled 6500 rpm dumps no problem. It's behind a 904 now with no issues to this day..

Thanks guy's, the dynotech sounds like the way to go. It is my understanding that the 8 3/4 diff, if built write ,( rear brace and Aluminum third member ,good axles) is good for 800 hp all day long ? Its got 5 years on it and the gears still look knew. but that was with just over 400 hp to the rear tires, I have definitely stepped it up big time this year. I guess I will find out.

To me its the weight that will kill the diff... the
weight is the resistance... I have the same set up
as you, back braced, alum center, good axles but my
car is light... my axle show a twist(about 1 spine
of twist at the point where it inters the spool)...
also I get a controlled amount of spin on the tire
which has helped get a better 60'... dead hook tends
to pull the engine down too much....... JMO

I am hopping the car will weigh in at 2800- 2900 me in the car, you say you have a controlled amount of tire spin, how are you accomplishing that. I am running a Advanced clutch Ass that has adjustable press I'm hopping between that and tire press and the Ladder bars I can tune in my hook to prevent dead hook. ?

I run a 4-link and thats set(to the most extent)
but I use air pressure... I will vary the pressure
1/8-1/4 pound on different tracks once you find that
happy point on the tire... I run 7psi on my tire
and vary that up to 7 1/4 on a strong hooking track...
then you also have the shock to help control the hook
EDIT
At that weight you shouldnt have any problems with
the 8 3/4 with the good parts....JMO

Mine is a FAST SHAFT out of Iowa. I WOULDNT recomend them, it took them 3 times to get mine correct, and everytime it was "fixed" I could measure 1/16" - 1/8" of runout.

So stay away from FAST SHAFTS

I twisted 2 stock driveshafts when I first broke into the 10s at 3700#. Got a 3" diameter "thick wall" shaft w/ 1350 joints built by my local driveshaft shop and haven't had any trouble w/ it. That was about 8 years ago.

I did have to replace it after the 727 exploded a couple years ago. Bent the shaft when it all came apart. I just had them build me another just like the first one.

When it comes time for me to buy a driveshaft for my road runner I'm going to buy one of the used NASCAR driveshafts off ebay.
