Hello I have a 1970 440 short block and would like to finish putting it together but I have a few ? about what heads to put on this engine. Pistons or L2355 I think six pack pistons .060 and a MP 590 cam. Also I have a max wedge intake do I buy the Indy EZ-1 Max Wedge heads and put the max wedge intake or sell the max wedge intake and buy a set of Edelbrock Victor and a Victor intake???I,am going to put this engine in my 1973 Pro Street Duster. Also was going to put a set of the 1968-69 big block A body manifolds on the car not headers. How much HP would I lose with these stock exhaust manifolds with 3" exhaust? Thanks

Too much cam and engine to be trying to push it through the exhaust manifolds,you will kill the flow for sure on the drivers side going around the steering column.Why do you not want headers on it? Sounds like its a pro-streeter already?

With a cam that big, you will probably make less power than with a standard cam because the overlap is so huge, the exhaust pressure will cause reversion(going backwards)into the cylinders.
I built a 440 once & used a cam with only 234/244@050 & .480 & .510 lift with standard exhaust manifolds. It went 14:00@ 102 mph & next meeting I turned up with some 1"-7/8" headers & straight off run 13:00@113mph. This was pushing 4000lbs.
Unless you run a mild cam, toss the manifolds.

Thanks Mike I have a few new cams a Comp 625 roller, MP 590, MP 509 ,MP 484,and a new MP six pack cam.I would lke to put the 496 engine in but they only make fender well headers not any under the front suspension for Indy SR1 Heads.

i have that same cast scoop from edelbrock i got back in 1990.
