If you full field it and nothing happens the alt is not working(if it was working before... thats not taking in any possible broken trigger wire) ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

I assume this is basically a production ride ... if so just replace it with a stock type unit... sounds like its a older Mopar... see if you can get a higher output one from the auto parts store... I believe the highest in the stock case is a 75 amp ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wave.gif)

I'd take out both brush holders/brushes for a 1 minute look see & replace them back in. Set car on fast idle and jump from the batt positive terminal to either male field terminal and the other male field terminal over to batt neg post or a nearby KNOWN good ground for several seconds MAX and if this "full fielding" makes it charge/max out then the alt is good and it is a field wiring/v reg prob & if not the alt needs to come apart/or a diff one and as said a charging alt will have magnetic pull in the back center on a screwdriver EDIT I think the highest amp OE type unit that will bolt right in w your existing brackets is a 78amper from a 80's M body, not sure on the app (yr/make) so check that
