Is there any sales info or data out there on that the fresh air option (N-96) for B-Bodies in 1969 on provided additional HP over the standard air cleaners for each year. Did they actually work?

You are getting outside air that is cooler than the underhood air forced into the carb but I've never seen different HP rating for the Ramcharger hood cars though.

Well, they can't hurt but I doubt it amounted to much. It would depend on engine/underhood temps, vehicle speed, etc. I bet the A12 hood was good for a few HP, but I think the N96 setups on most of the others looked cool but was too restrictive to make a big difference and unlike the A12 or T/A hoods, the scoops or openings were in the "boundary layer" of air flowing over the hood which reduces thier effectiveness.

I sure like your car John .

I know that the outside air is better. My question is based on Chrysler spending the money and time to create an elaborate set-up without knowing what it would do and how much to charge for a option that appears to increase performance. It would seem from a business perspective, there would be data or sales BS for someone to buy this... Unless it was totally sold on the cool factor. How much extra was the N-96 option in 69 and 70.

Yeah, I always figured any gains would be negated by the weight of all the duct work... but it sure looks cool. Good sales gimmick. You wouldn't want test results mucking things up, would you? The point is to sell cars. I'll take an AAR/TA hood or A12 hood for actual results though... results where tests really aren't needed. Outside air is better than underhood air, and fiberglass scooped hoods are lighter than steel hoods/much less steel hoods PLUS fiberglass and hardware.

I'm glad they made them regardless of efficiency. Super cool. That's what matters anyway.

I remember back in the day the dealers use to say 10-12 hp. I didn't believe it then and I don't believe it now LOL. Maybe 2-5 tops.
